char.animation advice request
I am looking at using LW as
my primary 3d package for various reasons but, I know little of the char. animation capabilities. (XSI is primary for me currently ) Is LW fair/good/great in this area? Would Motion builder be a "better" solution in general? Thanks, TH |
Lightwave is certainly a very good bet in terms of it's modelling and general animation tools, but many find it is lacking a little in the way of character animation toolset.
Whilst the addition of better character animation tools has happened with the 7.5 updates to LW, it still lacks a little bit. If your budget can stretch to it (and if char animation is your primary focus), then you may want to check out a combination of Lightwave and Messiah studio. Hi -
I know a lot of Lightwave users use Motion Builder as their tool of choice for character animation - might be worth waiting to see what version 8 of Lightwave has to bring to the table though. As Mark has already mentioned, the other alternative to Motion Builder is Project: Messiah or Messiah:Animate as the more up to date version is called. Unfortunately I don't know much about animation, so I can't really tell you which product would serve your needs best. |
