Critique my work
Hi:
I wanted someone to critique my modeling and texturing. I am trying to get work in the industry. Please be honest. The URL is http://www.dawnjones.150m.com/ Thank you. |
Maybe you should try some Tutorials from this site if you work with Lightwave :D.
|
Did you do all that in Lightwave or Bryce?
|
sorry ...I was attack by a gator application! so I couldnt stay to see it all
Ok Ill be as honest as I can: - from what I see, If you are serious about working in the industry you need to really put some hard work into the modeling and texturing alike. Go through some of the lightwave tutorials on this site, theres a few for free to - your textures look like they have been added to a material and simply thrown on. Sorry mate - but I guess thats honest |
Hey Kevin! Get your self Ad Aware 6 from Lavasoft. It is simply the best for killing spam stuff and yes the gator too. It works like an antivirus, scanning the registry and your files for trackers. I’ve been using it for a while now and it works great. Make sure you download the latest updates for it as well.
You can download it here. It is free. http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=506 :) :) |
I have to agree with Kevin, although I hope I'm not being nasty by saying this. Working in industry takes some real talent, commitment and hard work - look at some other pro's works and ask yourself if yours is as good as theirs. Look to see where you can make improvements and just keep learning. Also note that in industry the openings for lightwavers aren't as numerous as "the other industry level packages". The critical point is to enjoy your hobby and be happy with your work. Nobody can take that away from you even if you don't make the break, but best of luck with it. (Sorry if this sounded a bit negative - sometimes the best lessons can be the hardest and it certainly isn't my intent to put you down)

Cool D..... welcome to my world... the work you are producing right now is very...VERY similar to what I started with......"back story warning for those who don't want to listen" :D lol I sent all of my 2d images to a video game company that I wanted to work for... they liked my concept art and asked if I could do anything in 3dmax...max 3 at the time.... I'd never touched 3d before but they really need someone who could model..... So I started learning Max for a week...( I had two weeks to get the model built) needless to say it was a disaster....... I didn't get the job and they have never answered an update since....and the work you seem to be doing now... was what I sent to them...... That's not a bad thing for you...Well it sucked for me....:D 'cause I didn't get the job.... but you have to start somewhere..... you are better off than me though... you started with one of the best modeling tools out there..... I started with Max.... YUCK!!! I've never gotten over my YUCK factor for max... although I still keep up to date with it... Stick to this site if you want to learn light wave..... When you do two tutorials... the mug... and the peppers...( both free I think) your modeling\ texturing skills will increase by a factor of 10..( I'm not kidding) Keep at it and good luck....
