For a rope that is burning and beinging comsumed you could easly add a Transparency gradient enveloped to make the rope dissappear at the point of fire, moveing in the direction you want it to burn. This would work good if the rope is straight. For Deformations I dont really know havent used them much, but its very possible with deformations.
