This car really has lots of tricky details and I'm giving my best to show different useful approaches for these.
@Johnny9ball: I love FPrime. The best features of Fprime are instant feedback, fast rendering and that it's an iterative renderer; it'll even let you continue a render after days (or weeks...). You can let it render for a while, stop it, save the image and some extra rendering data gets stored too, then when you know your machine will be idle for a while, just load the (un-altered) scene and refine the render. As far as features go it would be easier to list what it *doesn't* support (yet). Have a look at
