The trick is not to use skytracer for your actual movie, but bake it out using skybaker. If you're not actually animating the sky, then you'll only need to render a single frame (otherwise you'll be rendering the whole sky sequence), but at least you'll only then need to do it once.
Couple of points to note if you're going to use skybaker:
(1) Don't use anti-aliasing for the baking render - you won't really need it and your render times will shoot through the roof.
(2) Render out at about 4 times your final resolution for your movie to avoid any unpleasant blurring of the image.
