yep, that's one thing I'm planning to do a tutorial on too: faking radiosity for indoor scenes. Radiosity may work for stills and deliver very realistic results, but for animations it's almost useless due to the high rendertimes involved. (unless you have access to a badass renderfarm, that is)
You might want to have a look in the gallery for my Kids Room image, this one is lighted with 13 lights and renders in under 1 minute per frame...
