here's another render. yeah, the reflection is way too high. i figured 15% would barely reflect anything. the bishops are the same height as the king and queen in the set that this is modelled after, but yeah, i see what you mean. i knew there was something wrong, but couldnt put my finger on it. how can i get a better wood surface? the one i have now is an image map. i would like to use procedural, but it always comes out like its way to big for the object. huge rings and stuff like that. crappy detail. any tuts available on that? also, still need to figure out how to model the knight. i really suck at organic shapes. or basically any shape that cant be beveled. any tips? i was thing about using 'pen' to do the outline and then bevel it. it may come out ok, but i doubt it. any tips welcome. im going to turn down reflectivity and make a few small adjustments and start another render. man i ramble on and on when im drunk...:beer:
