Question Particle Problem

Hi there,
Weve been set a uni assignmnet to create a scene with interaction between fire and water. I know how to use colloision objects and the like but im not sure how the fire can interact with the water particles. Ive tried playing around with the interaction tab on the fx emitter properties but so far i havent noticed it haveing any effect no matter what i do. What id like is for the flame paricles to be pushed away when the hose (water particles) touches them. Our "lecturer" has left it up to us to find this out, but i have found nothing on the topic. The only thig that comes close is to use the fx_linker to replace each particle of water with a null and then give that null a collision effect. But there must be a better way as this is going to take ages to replace each particle this manner. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
