People sometimes forget that Newtek has a great library of video tutorials that are a real treasure (since their manual leaves a lot to be desired). Check out newtek.com/lightwave They have a whole section on layout.

I recommend to buy inside lightwave 8 by Dan Ablan, or essential lightwavev9 they really are worth buying especially getting them used can be got on the cheap online. These are great references and even if you have moved up to version 10, they are still relevant in most situations.

You can export models in and out of lightwave and Vue, the one problem I noted is the scale at which you export to Vue can be really different. but not too troublesome with a little practice. If you have the money; there is a plugin that will manage it for you.
