Don't know if this will help with merge points in your situation, but when the points of a model won't merge I just select all the points I want to merge and do a fixed distance merge less then the minimum distance of the closest points in the selection I don't want merged, then merge and point count should be half the originally selected # of points- if more something didn't merge and get welded and if less, something merged that shouldn't have and gets undo'd and a smaller fixed merge is chosen. If that makes any sense at all..

Looking good now sharp, i am not even going anywhere near uv atm so good luck with that. My model will weigh in a few thousand more polys than yours, hope thats not part of the challenge. Anyway good luck.

nope that dont work. ill post a screeney of what it does

its the points that are connected to 2 of the uv parts eg jaw and body.

i did weld them all but then i got that wrap type thing on the uv's where point stay still where they are ( and doesnt show a point ill screenshot in in a bit

ok i applied just a grid texture to it to get everything rounded and all the legs etc around rounded and the only streching is on the horns and the spike on its arm.

You might want to model some more detail in to it before you start UV mapping. Still a ways before deadline!

yeah i think mtmckinley is right about that. take the time to make the object as good as possible!!

if you are about to tweak some things... dont forget to tweak the arms... they are not attached to the body very realistic. also make sure the place where the eyes are going to be, are being a little bit beveled inside the face.
dont think i hate your mesh!! thats not true...but there are some things you should tweak before starting texturing!!

ok i tweaked it some gona tweak some more if i can also i carnt get the arms to look at all right the mesh goes strange and doesnt smooth when i do it

ill try again in a bit

my main focus on this tho is to learn as much as i can on textures so right now i am going to give it mayb 2 hours tweaking stuff to look right then i gona start on the texture if i was doing it normally i would spend longer on the mesh.

ps i am going to make a few textures for it for learning purposes and use the 1 that i like the most so i plan on keeping busy

here a texture i did . but im thinkin of restarting the dino again.

but ill do it after i do my bigger dinosaur

changing my aims to 4000 for the big dino as it is big and a game would b able to handle that many on a size dino like that and 3000 for my remake of the littler dinosaur if i remake it.

anyhoo here is the texture of my first attepmt. currently no teeth because i do not know how to do alpha
