Ok well i'm not sure if I will be able to enter the challenge or not. This is really just a placeholder for if I do get to enter. If I am able to enter I am going to do a Great White Shark!

Ok so I found a litttle bit of time today to work on my shark. Here is the first 45 minutes of modelling. I am doing a younger shark than the picture I posted in my first post. This guy is a little thinner, doesn't have as many scars, and (hopefully) looks more muscular when i'm done. As for scene composition I am thinking of having it seem as if the camera is actually being held by a diver in a diving cage and taking a picture of a shark as it swims by.

your start isn't to bad. But i think a bit more polygons around the eye would look better.

Yeah I figured I would make the base and then start detailing in.

Good start. Modelling the mouth should be fun.

Ok so I recently purchased ZBrush 2(yay!). I have decided that to learn ZBrush I will try and do my shark in it. I have playing around with everything for about a week now and I think I can do it. So I must take one step backward in order to take another forward. I have remodeled the whole shark with low detail and I will then bring that into ZBrush where I will sculpt, texture, and render. Meanwhile I will do the ocean scene in Lightwave and then composite the 2 in the end. So here is the simple geometry:

Well - seems to be a good way to learn Z-Brush - basic model looks fine to me! Keep it up.

Looks awesome...i think you should boost the subD division in Zbrush for the sake of his gills.
They look a bit off if you see what i mean.

Texture update. Teeth. This is just a screen capture not a render so things look kind of blocky. Also need to work on:
1. The textures between the lip and gums
2. Tongue textures.

Then again the camera wont be near this close, I just wanna make it as "realistic" as possible. C & C welcome as always.

Ok so I couldn't help myself and I went ahead and did the rest of the body texturing. Here is the side shot of my underwater beast.
