A big HOWDY! to everyone enterin or watchin how this comp progresses!

It's been a while since i've passed through here and after checkin out this month's challenge details, i'm lookin' forward to doin somethin! I'm gonna endeavour to finish this entry in spite of an increased workload [which most people can empathise with, i'm sure!] I checked all the threads in the Simply' Forums to see if anyone had the same idea as me - no one has so far - so i'm gonna try out a GOLF BUGGY transformer.

This mecha's not gonna be much use on a battlefield or fighting alien invaders - he's much too hoity-toity for that! [but if you want someone to carry your clubs or need some advice on what kind of driver to use on the fifth hole, he's your robot!]

My scanner's on the fritz at the moment, so I'll forego the sketches for the time being, but part of my design will probably incorporate some kind of golf tee dispenser in a forearm and possibly a golf-club launcher [to quickly ensure that whomever he's caddying for has the right club at the right time!]

So with all that said, stay tuned for the "Country-Clubicon"!

Cheers! priimate.

Hi! Here's my first progress post. In lieu of a concept sketch, i've whipped up a quick concept model - i'm using a few reference pics i got off the web as a basis for the model i'll do.

While building this I've realised just how little there is to a golf buggy! It's gonna be tough to conceal as much of the robot as possible without having to resort to "faking" alot of the transforming components [creative liscense is a wonderful thing!].

Cheers! priimate.

Here's the mock-up of the buggy:

Hey mate, good to see you back - I've got too much on just now to enter this challenge, though it certainly looks like its gonna be some stiff competition so I'm kinda glad. Love the concept of a golf buggy transformer - looking forward to seeing it progess

Next WIP!

Made a quick morph to work out possible locations for different bits of the buggy when it transforms, then all I need to do is add in the bits of the robot that are revealed during the proccess [like the upper legs] and decide where they are housed when in vehicle mode. This has definately given me some ideas about how to animate the transformation when the model is done!

Cheers! priimate.

Cheers Kris! Yeah, I wanted to do a vehicle that was even further down on the food chain than BumbleBee was in the Transformers cartoon - so it was either a golf buggy, a moped or a tricycle! Although come to think of it, a Vesper scooter's probably a bit more naff than those three [Hopefully someone does one!]

Cheers! priimate.

Yeah, Bumblebee was the bees knees. He could have kicked Optimus Prime's butt.

I really like your idea priimate - very funny and looks like you have the transformation pretty much in the bag. This should be a very cool model.

Good luck in the challenge.

Hi All!

Well, here's the much-delayed update [finally!].
Thanks to everyone one who's been checking out this thread only to find there's not been much happening!

So as a re-cap, I kinda worked out the overall layout of the golf buggy, to see which components could be used as different bits of the robot [see previous images]. I've begun construction on the robot, starting with an arm, as I can probably get that bit done faster than building the buggy. This arm has a total of 96819 polys in it, and is constructed from a combination of polygonal and Sub-patch surfaces.

I'm hoping to have the legs done by tonight!

So without further ado, here's some WIPS!

Cheers! priimate.
