Question Particle Problem

Hi there,
Weve been set a uni assignmnet to create a scene with interaction between fire and water. I know how to use colloision objects and the like but im not sure how the fire can interact with the water particles. Ive tried playing around with the interaction tab on the fx emitter properties but so far i havent noticed it haveing any effect no matter what i do. What id like is for the flame paricles to be pushed away when the hose (water particles) touches them. Our "lecturer" has left it up to us to find this out, but i have found nothing on the topic. The only thig that comes close is to use the fx_linker to replace each particle of water with a null and then give that null a collision effect. But there must be a better way as this is going to take ages to replace each particle this manner. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi keelers, If you have a "water emmiter" that waves about [like a hose would spray water], you could parent a directional wind effector to it, so as the water emmiter rotates, the wind passes back and forth thru the fire. In the wind's properties panel give it a Group name and then set your fire emmiter's Group to the same name. This will make the wind affect only the emmiters in the same group [i.e. the fire]. You can then set the wind up to blow as hard as you like. It will look as though the water is pushing the fire away as it sprays back and forth.

Thanks for the help Primate :beer:

Its taken a little while to get things the way i want them, and things still arent perfect (are they ever?) but its turned out ok. Its only a little assignemnt anyhow so i odnt wanna spent too much time on it as its my final year and ive got a project to do! :headbang:
