No Name Fighter
Here is a little fighter that I threw together for a Modeling Challenge that I started at www.spacebattles.com.

There is a cockpit. You just can't see it

Jonathan: Nice scenes, great nubula on image #2, on image #1 the red light from the ship engines seems to be reflecting on the planet surface which looks a little odd, also the it would be cool with some more lights on the ship.. it really looks dark now and its hard to see what the ship really looks like. Otherwise it looks good, nice textures on the planet too.
Good work //Matt |

I think some light should be visible trough window's cockpit. Then overall illumination is too flat; in space you have big contrast between lighted and shaded part. There's no air or atmosphere so no diffusion light. When you reach your goal illumination with one side lit and the other completely dark you can help the model with some fill lights. Finally keep ambient value to zero and use instead of it a distant dark blue light for diffuse shading only or something similar. Hope this helps a bit

The planet was done by Kenny "The Axeman" Mitchell and the Nebula was done by Fabio. I will not be putting any lights on the inside of the fighter because I did not model anything on the insde doue to time and computer constraints. Also, the light on the planet is from an area light that I set up to give the effect of the Nebula giving off light. I am probably going to render some more shots today though seeing as I finally got Win 2k on my computer.
