Book Recommendations
Hi All,
Here's a little question for you all before I part with my pennies at Amazon. I've been following the thread about the head model and reckon I'll be getting the Dan Ablan "inside lightwave" book. Are there any other highly recommended books on LW and 3D out there? ...and are there any real stinkers you would avoid? |

I heard Timothy Albee's 'LightWave 3D 7.0 Character Animation' book is pretty good. (Btw, he has a new book coming out soon called Essential Lightwave, that looks good too).
Now for the stinker..... ---> Lightwave 6.5 Magic <--- maybe, it's just me... hehe

The Line of books the [Digital] by New Riders Publishing Series are great for 3D and they are not software specific a great read in 3D. Like Digital Textureing and Painting, and Digital Lighting and rendering, and Digital Charactor Animation 2, Digital Cineatorgraphy and directing.

Also check out Lightwave Applied - some excellent texturing tutes in there. Also, the new Lightwave Lighting book look like it could be worth checking out.

Bill Flemings books are also worth a glimpse.
I read his "3D Photorealism Toolkit" in one night... not the newest book but he explains the most important aspects pretty well.

Yeah, I agree about hte Digital series, they seem to be awesome, I'm learning a lot from Texturing and Painting as well as Lighting and Rendering. Inside Lightwave 7 seems great as well.

Yeah - I agree with Phil here - Bill Flemming's books - although a little dated, and his modelling techniques can sometimes leave a little to be desired - explore some important concepts in realistic visualisation.
Well worth the read.... |

Cheers for the pointers ppl. Have ordered the Inside Lightwave 7 book. Will try and remember to let you all know how much it helps me.
Memory like a sieve. Nearly went for the texturing book too, but that ended up on the wishlist and I got one about php instead! |
