I agree with promethius in regard to learning the techniques that are used by those that are skilled.

I purchase tutorials from both SimplyMaya and SimplyLightWave as I think they represent excellent value for money and teach me a lot, even though I use XSI.

it's a challenging idea...

I think I will do one of the free tutorials on simply maya first and see how far I get with that.
And if it goes well, I'll buy the fighter dvd.

thanks guys !

R-6,

It is only harder if you are not familiar with most of the tools in Lightwave. If you are familiar with Bandsaw Pro and Edge tools, than you are about half way there, even though there are alot more to use in different way. These tools are the one's I keep as shortcuts along with select loop, removeX, weld average, and all the basic shortcuts too:

bevel
smooth shift
strech
rotate
etc
etc

Try a free tut on Maya and see, if you are comfortable with Lightwave. The major difference I see from MAYA and Lightwave is how the Subpatch division is approach from the modeler's point of view, so you have to think how would I do that in Lightwave.

Cheers,
Promethius

Thx promethius,
Funny thing is years ago I played around with Maya ,had the book Maya 4 fundamentals.I actually didn't mind Maya also tried Max.
I didn't consider Lightwave until I found out how much these programs cost ! I was also sold on the Great LW community and seeing great work done in Lightwave.
Keep up the great work promethius !
