Keith Athaide 02-06-2003 01:01 PM

Rendering->Render Options->Rendering tab-> Turn on raytrace shadows. Also make sure in your light properties->shadow tab, that shadow type is not set to "Off".

i hope I'll help you a little with this:

Your screenshot is showing us layout and (me thinks) you can't see shadows in layout preview unless you hit "F9" to render it. Have a look at my screenshot: it's simple scene with ground object and geometry. There is a light in this scene (spot light) and a camera. As you can see there is no shadows there....

...but if u hit "F9" to render it u will get shadows. On this screenshot u can see rendered scene and light properties and rendering options. Oh! And u can't open those two panels at the same time - i just pasted light properties panel there in mspaint :D

Got questions?

DybiosH 03-06-2003 09:22 PM

hmm... I think u got some plug-ins missing. Try to add plugins again. Don't know how? Here it is:

Run Layout. Press 'Lightwave' and then choose 'Plug-ins' -> 'Edit Plug-ins'. Panel will show up. Press 'Scan Directory' and point it to your plugins directory (mine goes like this "C:\LightWave_3D_7.0\Plugins"). It should fix the problem - I hope :)

jam9_secretagent 03-06-2003 10:20 PM

wut do u mean "run layout"

DybiosH 03-06-2003 10:24 PM

by layout i mean this part of LightWave where u render your images. When u r in Modeler pres "F12" and u will get Layout (LightWave). Sorry for not being enough clear.

jam9_secretagent 04-06-2003 12:21 AM

I NEED HELP AGAIN!

You now in lightwave right, how do i make a reflection of the soccer ball on a white ground??

PLzz respnd as soon as possible thnx.

philip 07-06-2003 08:55 AM

open the surface editor (ctrl-F3) and set the reflection value for your ground material to something like 30%. Then open the render options panel (Rendering menu -> Render Options) and check raytrace reflections. You might also lower the ray recursion limit to something like 3.

hit F9
