i can't seem to stick to a project and i keep thinking up new ideas and my old ones just seem to disappear. Anyway i saw a picture of some barrels from another website and this idea popped into my head......hopefully ill be able to keep doing this project withough ditching it.

Looks like a good start.

voices3d 22-10-2003 09:00 AM

looks cool. Whats it gona be? The idea that comes to my mind is a post nuclear area like Fallout. Another thing is a deserted militery base. that would give you a heck of a chalange. but those barrels looks good :) and the whole thing would look awsome :)

R4s1n 22-10-2003 07:04 PM

i guess a rundown nuclear-construction place. dont know how but yea.... i will add an update later on after i finish modeling the crane and some more rundown objects :)

its not great cuz im still going to work on it..... still have to work on the crane platforn

Fallenswordsman 26-10-2003 01:16 PM

Certainly starting to come together here. I'm not a crane expert but those iddy biddy chains don't look as if they would hold the dirty great big hook nor whatever it happens to carry - but then I don't really know how the hook would normally be attached to the rest of the crane! Best of luck with the scene though.

R4s1n 26-10-2003 08:10 PM

i dont know what a crane looks like either
<goes to google and searches for cranes>

all of this is out of my head and if anything i will redo them at anybodies request

For what it's worth, I found this bucket on a photo jaunt. I over-saturated it to bring out the uglies better. This may be too old for you.

R4s1n 27-10-2003 04:08 AM

i believe that my stronger point is in modeling not in texturing.......

For the nuclear/construction place ive decide to make a level out of it, hopefully it will be big

If anybody has extra time on their hands can you post some rust/sand/wood/brick textures on this thread because im not great at finding or making them.

Thanx

Mark 27-10-2003 08:45 AM

R4S1n = you should surf on over to the Newtek website and check out their four texture collections...

Leovenous 27-10-2003 06:35 PM

My point with the bucket wasn't so much the texture, as it was the rusted away gaps. The lip, being thicker metal, stayed intact while the thin wall around it rusted clean away. Might look cool if you do a clipping map or whatever they call them.

Getting textures on is not so hard...

Nice model

R4s1n 27-10-2003 08:03 PM

my one problem with the texturiing is the streching of the image. i have to learn how to work around that.

To Mark= i tried to download the collections but my computer was malfunctioning.....like alway
although thanx for reminding me ill check them out right now

To Leovenous= i have no clue what clipping map is.... fill me in if you find anything about them...

Leovenous 27-10-2003 09:09 PM

Check out this tut, it's awsome for mapping.

Oops. When he gets it working again. I may have it saved onto my laptop... will check.

R4s1n 27-10-2003 11:50 PM

ive had that tute for a while but i have forgotten about... ill check it out... thanx for reminding me......

ok im making big changes and im going to change the rundown place to a level.....

One problem is how to make something give off light (like a light bulb)

Im going to have lots of light because some it is going to be underground
This is what i want to give off light.........
either one will work....
