Started on a new cahracter just for the fun of it. He is the old and wise turtle (and maybe a bit senile). Still need to add the long beard and texture the entire thing, but here's the start.

A small update. I had a few moments to do a little texturing. I still need to add a bump map to the shell and then go on to the skin texture.

I had a problem, and if anyone knows the answer, please let me know what to do. I am using Saslite for the hair. But for some reason, I can't get it to cast shadows. I checked all of the settings for Saslite and all of the light settings, but I still couldn't get the shadows. Any ideas? thanks.

when you apply Saslite go into Scene>Effects>Image Processing>Add Pixel Filter>Saslite. Then double click on what appears after you select Saslite. After you open it, enable the 'Receive Lightwave Shadows'

Then go into Render>Render Options>Rendering>Ray Trace Shadows.

Now do a render and the turtle should now have hair shadows.
