Finger/Wing Automation

Hello folks, got a bit of a puzzle here. I have a winged character and I'm using expressions tied to a NULL to control the unfolding/flapping of the wings, there are no problems with this as such, however layout doesn't update in real-time and I have to move the scrub to see where the wings have moved to - slightly annoying. In the exaple I've been looking at from Jonny Gordens Cartoon Character books, he has a similar control for splaying fingers howver his does update without needing to move the scrub. i can see no decernable difference between the set-ups both in terms of the expression controls and the layout settings and both characters have roughly the same poly count.... any ideas? (I had the same problem when I was working on my Bruce and Jackie characters and ended up abandoning the control system)

Are your expressions written under Motion Options, GE Expressions, or GE Modifier Expressions? It can make a difference in calculation order if you are using the Lscript format due to IK limitations. Try using the Motion Options expressions with after IK checked.

Hope this helps

Cheers, for the reply nemac - unfortunately though, what you described is exactly how I have it set up. Like I said, there is no descernable difference between what I have and Jonny Gordens example (with the obvious exception that his updates in real-time).

Maybe try testing the setup on a different object or removing and reapplying the expressions. No telling what is wrong.
