My Favorite Toy Challenge - Warlock 279
Wow, did my first CG/internet/forum contest here, eons ago, its great to see them back.
Little bit different take on the choice of toy for me, I'm doing the one toy I wanted most, but never got. By the time I was old enough to save enough to buy it, LEGO had discontinued it, I even wrote a letter to LEGO asking if there was anyway to get it, but was told "We're sorry, that model is no long available, we hope you can find something in our current line to fill your interest", or something like that, eventually I had to settle for a different ship. Anyway, I'm building the Skull's Eye Schooner, from the LEGO Pirates line, circa 1993 or so. Started on it Friday evening, was busy with it all weekend. The hull bits have taken most of the time so far. Never mind the bricks with missing studs, I'm cleaning off any studs that won't be visible in the end to save on the polycount. |

Thanks Bullet, good luck to you as well.
More parts and pieces. Found it assembly goes much faster if I take the time to model a whole bunch of pieces from several steps rather than a new each piece each time I come across one. So I spent yesterday making about 30 pieces, and today putting them on the ship. [...hot pink pieces are stuff that needs corrected] |

s2-speedy - I'd imagine a lot of us creative types we keen on LEGO growing up. So it wouldn't surprise me to see a lot of LEGO models turning up for this.
Mark - Thanks. Nuke - Eh, the modeling's not really too challenging, very very very very tedious, but not overly difficult. I'd say its more a test of patients and discipline than actual modeling skill. Update, slowed down some, but still going. Masts and such added. Still missing a few odd pieces, a window and a couple doors. Then it needs a crew and some sails. Bit easier to see in grey, than it is in color at the moment. |

Thanks guys.
Not had a whole lot of time to work on this, but I'm getting it finished up. Ships just about done. Some texture work to do on it yet tho. Working on the crew now. No time for a render, so just a screen grab. [Stats are without the four cannons.] |
