Default First attempt at.....

...scenery, a terrain/environment to race my blades in.

Critiques appreciated as ever, however, don't mind the DOF, that was just idle playing, and I am aware of the 'small scale' it implies in the renders *DOH*

Cheers!

Nicely done, seems to remind me of those Star Wars racing games,

Nicely done. I do admit that the scale does seem slightly off - and I don't think that its the DOF that's causing it. Possibly the scale of the texture on the rock seems a little out of kilter with the actual size of the rock formations - perhaps look at shrinking the texture down somewhat to imply a larger scene, or adding some smaller scale rocks and bushes in at ground level...

Yeah, looks like a great start. I assume you are using some procedurals of some sort for the texture. I would not say the texture you have for the rock walls is impossible, but it seems unlikely.

I would either mess with them more, add more gemetry (which I assume you are avoiding). Or most likey paint up some bump maps in Photoshop. That way you can create sort of a layering effect that is perhaps more geologically accurate and, being as they would be parralel lines, may enhance the feeling of speed. It would also be easy to use the bump document to make a corresponding color map.

Thats just the thoughts of lil-0-me.
