Default Newtek Tutorial Query

Hi,

I downloaded a bunch of video tut's from newtek on box modelling a humanoid head, but I'm stuck on what the author does from one specific frame to the other. It starts out with a box, switches to subpatch mode and then subdivides it once. The problem is that I'm failing to reproduce that initial subdivision, I have to subdivide twice to get some definition before I finish my models - and that makes for too many polygons. Here is a screenshot of it before and after the author messes with the standard box - I've kept it small and grayscale to save space. Oh yeah I'm new here so hello

Humm... I think he just gets into subpatch mode, with patch divisions set to 3 and freezes it.
Press o for General Options, make sure patch divisions is set to 3.
Press Tab for subpatch mode, then CTRL-D to freeze the bastard
I think that'll do the trick.
