Post Modelling a basketball hoop

Hi, I'm just getting started with lighwave, but I have to make a basketball hoop and eventually do some simple animation. How can I make the net so that it looks real? What would be the best and easiest way to start this? any suggestions would be really, really, really appreciated!

Hmm - maybe make the net effect with a transparency map? That way, you can then muck around with it as a solid unit with motion designer to make it move when the ball goes through the hoop. That's the simplest way I can think of anyway.
