Default First for me

This is my first entry.

it is a kind of hover tank I suppose. Since I don't have the educational version yet and have been busy using the lightwave at school for school use ( Which gets boring with uncreativeness )
so I made this at home with the discovery version ( which is very limited but still better then nothing, thanks again to johnny) I can't save it so I guess it's done =)

Sorry, Krull - I can't seem to see the image. According to the properties, it may well be pointing to an item on your desktop - try using the upload tool - its pretty painless.

Just figured out jpeg works better sorry now I know.
if the other ones didn't work let me know ill fix.

Well I worked on this for about 30 minutes I didn't have a layout just testing the discovery version and wanted some pointers (unfortunatly I can't save)

Some questions.

I started on the turret first then the tank itself, I tried to combine the to with boolean>add it didn't look at all right is there a different, better, right way?? or do I have to model them together (which I don't have a prob with.)

Hmmm im tired it's 2 am and I got star testing and an English exam ( as you can tell my english is poor ) so im gonna hit the sack.

To be honest, I'd be tempted to keep them both in separate layers. That way, when it comes time to animate, you can rotate the turret independant of the tank.

Still, if you really do want to combine the two, simply enter polygon mode, select all the polys from the turret, cut, select the layer with the tank body and paste. This will put everything on one layer, but still keep the turret geometry separate. If you really do need to physically combine the two, I'd be tempted to do it manually from that point.

Looks very good
One thing that strikes me is the amount of polys that are in the small model. Did you by any chance 'freeze' the model?
The poly count might make your rendering times a pain.

i'd go with what Mark has to say,,, keep it seperate... and also i think there is way too many poly. Oh ya and by the way,,, discovery edition,,, has a limit on points right... 400..... or isit not.. Just wanted to know. Hmm.... and also cannot save scenes... right? Hehe

I agree with Mark about how to combine the turret and the main part of your model - try and build in layers if you can - there's no big rule that states that all polygons have to join up. Download a few of Craig Clarke's models in the downloads section and pick them apart- you'll get some great ideas from there. Looks very polygon heavy at the moment as well. But heck, as an experiment for a piece of software you are unfamiliar with, its pretty good. In my early days all I ever did was make primitives
