Default hi all

hi everybody

i found this forum some time back so i thought i better make an intro and say thnx for all the tutorials i found on this site. They are helping me alot .

i'm also glad that i found this forum for some future feedback (if that is possible?)

got one thing to say tho about the tutorials that are not free. In some way i understand it that u ask money for it ...and somehow i do not. But i'm not here to argue this in any way.
I can only speak for myself...i thought it over and i chose not to spend money on these tutorials. I hope u guys can understand this and that i'm still welcome on this forum to ask for some advise about 3d ect without a constant reminder to the paying tutorials.

If that is the case then i think u'll see me more often . If it isn't no hard feelings but i'm looking for some people that just give me feedback without any commercial intentions behind them.

anyway...thnx alot again and i hope to meet some new friends here with the same interest: 3d

cy all later

I'm sure you'll find that most everybody here is willing to give advice and encouragement whether you buy points or not. Welcome! :p I will say, though, that the tutorials are a valuable resource, and well worth the money (cheap at the offering price!). I'm not affiliated with this site, but I will say that through concentrated work with thier tutorials, I have learned a LOT. If you find some cash, I would highly recommend the videos on this site.

Hi welcome and I am glad your learning here. You more than welcome to join our community and ask questions and we all will try and help. In our community everyone is welcome.

I would like to answer you a little on why the tutorials here cost $. One reason is an Ad free site. The creators of this site like to have an ad free environment. No pop-ups or add banners and good reason for that to. Its very clean and uncluttered from ads. Another reason is Bandwidth. Video tutorials are fairly large in megs and the bandwidth that this site uses in a month is many gigabytes. As we all know Bandwidth costs $. Of course the main reason is that this is a buisness. Dave Kevin Philip Peter Mods and every board member and others put time and effort into the community we have, and also the buisness side of this wonderfull website. People may suggest from time to time that you purchace points for tutorials but its usually always because because they really are a good value packed with lots of learning for the 3D that we all enjoy.

As with any buisness it takes $ to make $ and if they dident charge us they wouldent even be here. The plain fact is money keeps it here and running, but money is only a tool in life. The heart and soul of this website is the people and wonderfull community we have. Those that buy here support the buisness and the community. They are also supporting future tutorials and more 3D learning for everyone in our community.

I just wanted to take a little time and enlighten you and possibly others that your support here helps everyone. This buisness here has gathered a great community together.

Thank you all for the warm welcome

I’ll say again I do not question the quality of the tutorials. Those tutorials (for instance the simple tutorial to create the cup) finally gave me some understanding about modeling and I’m thankful for that. And I can only guess what the costs are to host all these tutorials and I can imagine the bill for that. (not to forget the effort to make them afcourse)
But looking at my bank account gives me a straight answer :/

Anyway thnx for understanding and see you all later

It's not just about hosting It's about paying people to create the tutorials in the first place. We don't expect people to work for free.

lol

anyway
i'll better introduce myself abit more...
I'm an interior designer/graphic designer and i'm interested in 3d for some time now. Part of the reason is that i can't draw very good
But somehow i was scared to try improving myself in it. (The first sight of lightwave just gives u that feeling when u are used to a windows environment).
I spend alot of time searching for the right program to spend my time with and eventually i chose lightwave. To my feeling it is the cheapest package and at the same time the most complete one in the field (but correct me if i'm wrong)

I'm familiar to some 3d design. I modeled alot using solids in autocad and rendered in an ancient version of artlantis.
the fact that i use to model in solids is kinda a strange feeling compared to modeling with surfaces. I think it's gonna take me some time to get familiar with it.
And artlantis was a great rendering program back in the old days (maybe some of u guys know it?). But now i'm interested in some more advanced features.

that's about it i think

cy all later

Thats great to know You made a good choice with lightwave it is a very capable 3D package. With LW8 it becomes even more stremlined. Good thing is you can take many skills learned in 3d modeling, textureing, animation, and apply them to other packages.

I hope you enjoy our community. Please ask questions we love to answer.
