Cool LW and Max 5.1

Well guys,,, think you all should know,,, this month have a real project... And the end product has to be in Max format. Ok,, i will leave out some parts for the Max forum. What i want to know is how many of you have worked on Max for a project say a interior design sort of a thing... Photoreal? Any comments or things to look out for would be a great help.

Right now,,, managed to get MAX 5.1 with Character Studio 4... Cool that the studio presented me with that..Hehe So far i am playing around with floating point TIFFs cause HDR cannot be loaded.... by default.

I was thinking before i sit down to learn MAX... properly... i want to model the stuff in LW and export it to MAX and then just learn the lighting and rendering to save some time and speed up things... Is this a good idea? Any thoughts?

There is a great program by Okino called polytrans that can convert the objects including textures from one format to the other. If I can help with that, don't hesitate to contact me and we can see if we can work something out. Just thought I'd offer while I was here.

Thanks for the offer hoopti,,, i know that polytrans is a good software, but at the moment its expensive. And for just one project and one person its not liable that it would be purchased by the studio or me to complete it. Thats why the export and retexturing and setting up the scene in Max is prob,,, the way i want to go. That way i can learn Max,,, hmm,, thinking of the other project that is lined up next or concurently... is also a thought on my mind. Thats why the character studio. Ok think i have my work cut out for me. I will keep you in mind and will email you if i need to convert some models. Oh ya one question i want to ask,, in polytrans,,, say we have a simple character or model in quads. When we convert to 3ds format are they in tris or still in quads?

Cheers,
Kumar
