I started to model my daughter and make her as a cherub or faerie. this is the first time I have tried making a photorealistic model, so I am still learning as I go along. I still have some tweaking to do on the head, but I would like some opinion. Thanks.

Looks quite good to me.
A few points though:
1.Is this modeled mainly from the front, and/or based mainly on a front facing picture? The proportions from the side looks a bit off to me, but this may be because I'm used to working on adult models and my knowledge of childrens anatomy is limited.
Basically I think the head looks as if it is tall and wide enough, but not "deep" enough. The classic proportions for a human head is that it should be as "deep" as it is tall Ears look like they should be slightly further back and down. Back of head seems like it should be bumping out a bit more. The area above the nose looks like it should go slightly further in. It just looks a bit like you quite simply had too little information to work with from the side view, although I'm basing this on what I see in the model since I have no idea what your daughter looks like.
2. I like the expression you've captured in the mouth region.
3. It looks like you've taken a small shortcut underneath the chin and at the back of the head, slightly more detail for more photorealism.
4. I actually really like this model, and it's a damn good first step into the realm of photorealism. I think you should delay turning her into a pixie for a while, and rather work further on the realistic side first.

All in all it looks good, and I'm looking forward to seeing it progress.

Thanks for the comments.

Ulven, I did take a shortcut on the bottom of the chin. I wasn't sure if I wanted to add more detail to it, but I think I will now.

Here are the reference pics I am using.

Thumbs up

Looks very nice and promising !

Her head, from side view, is a bit 2 pointy. in the picture it is more flat. This will give your model an even more kid-like appearence.

It also looks her ears in the picture are a bit rotated CW. In your model it looks up right (maybe this is something Ulven already mentioned).

Finally, you could add a bit more detail to the mouth area, or spin some quads (select poly;CTRL & K) to reduce the creasing around it.

Looking 4ward 2 your progress!

Cute kid btw!

Tsunami.

wow she has really grown since that post I remember from the "Who are you?" tread......

hm...anyways....I think the forehead (from sideview) should look a bit rounder.............but non of my 4 million tries to make a head has been successful so I think I should stop my crit right here, otherwise you might end up with your model looking like E.T. and I don't think you want that

...btw: I think it looks pretty good...

Looking really good there Barking... One crit I'd level at it though (and you can ignore this if you're trying to keep the face fairly neutral) is that I'd dimple the cheeks a little bit just at the corners of the mouth to give it a more natural look.

Nice one,,, while you are at it,,, try using the smooth tool... Shift + M... settings at 1.0 and 5... will smooth out the cheek area cause the light hitting that looks uneven.

by the way, the belly button is just a place holder right now. I will have a lot more detail in it.
