Default beechball squash

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can give me a few tips...

Im animating a large rolling beech ball and I need to squash or rather flatten the area that is in contact with the ground as it rolls. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can achieve this/

many Thanks

Matt
