Default Sept/Oct-Noob-Dooster

This challenge looks like fun! This will be my second challenge, as I entered the last one. For this one I was thinking about doing Greendog from Greendog-The Beached Surfer Dude which was on Sega Genesis. I played the game like once, it was ok, but the guy is kinda cool. I didn't see him anywhere in 3D but if he is please say so. Thanks a lot and good luck to everyone.

Since no one has said that Greendog is not ok, I will continue to proceed. But if Greendog has been done in 3D please speak up. Thanks.
Here is a concept drawing of the revised Greendog I am planning to make. Key differences from the original include: a face (i felt it would make him more expressive and make it more interesting and difficult to model), minor difference in hair and shorts, and a long board (it seems to be more popular today). Comments and crit are welcome. Thanks.

Dude, sweet drawing. I have played the game, and he has a boomerang, so that might be cool to make. The longboard is wicked cool, good idea. I agree about the face. You might want to make his shorts more cartoony, unless you're going for a little more realistic look. Looking good so far dude!

Thanks for the advice Pianoman! I think I will try to incorporate the boomerang and also I need to change his shark tooth necklace to a gold pendant (I just played the game and realized that that was a key component). It is an aztec pendant or gold piece, so I will also try to incorporate that.
In response to the realism question. I think I am going for a rather realistic look but a cartoony feel, like exaggerated proportions and body expressions, but I would like the textures and items to look realistic (hopefully I can accomplish this). Thanks...

Nice concept sketch, I like the changes you've mentioned so far. Can't wait to see it!

Thanks Blueflies! Here is a start to the head geometry. I started with a normal ball and used bandsaw, smooth shift, and just moving points to reach the model shown. Advice would be very much appreciated on any part of the model as I feel that it needs some work and I would like to improve my modeling skills. Thanks.

Here is a shot of the start of the longboard. This is the beginning of the truck of the board. The shape on the left side of the image is just the shape of the board itself. Crit, compl, or advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks...

Hey looks like a good start. As far as head modelling, I can't be too much help as I have limited experience there. One thing I noticed is that you should make sure that your eye socket openings are round enough for when you put eyeballs in cause you don't want any gaps.

The board is looking good, seems like you've got that modelling down and should have no problem finishing that out.

Keep it up!!
