In a Game I have, there is a file format thats called .bitmap. I am trying to open it into lightwave to use as a texture, but it doesn't. so i looked online for a converter, and i found converters for .bmp, which is different. does anybody know any converters that will change it to lightwave compatible, or other programs that will do the same.

As far as I am aware, a bitmap, is a dithered or halftone image, made only of black. Photoshop should be able to open the file, as it's capable of creating them.
That is if it's that kind of bitmap ! - good luck ![]() |

I use CS1 at work, but I'm sure it's available in all of them, you can create a bitmap image by making it greyscale, then choosing, image > mode > bitmap, and from here you can set the resolution and dither method. You would generally use it for one colour logo's/artwork that you don't hold an EPS for, the bitmap can then be coloured in any supporting program like Quark or InDesign, but to be honest the image mode isn't used that much any more.
As for opening your image, you could give it a try, or maybe look for a free graphic converter of some kind, there must be one on the net !? ![]() |

ya, I've been looking on the net, and found nothing. and its kinda wierd that its only grey, because the game (halo) is not in black and white. Maybe its something different altogether?

Only colour maps need to be in colour.
All other maps simply need to be b/w or greyscale (depending on what they're used for) |
