Default subd patches

Hi

Im following a tutorial on the Lightwave Tune Up 9 DVD about making a fish.

I've created a box then switched to subd mode, then am using subdivide to create some more polygons.

Now for some reason, when I hit subdivide, the adjacent polygons to the selected ones go mental!!

Please see first and second shapes in the attached image.

What I should get is on the last image - I did this tutorial before, this morning and DID get these results! Im not sure what Im doing wrong, can anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks

I think I've figured this out - it's because I was using 'Subpatch' not 'Cartmull-Clark'! As simple as that :-)
