I guess this would be the place to post about rigging. I'm trying to find the best way to get good deformations for the arm/underarms. I use bones and Endomorhs, but they seem limited. I was told that creating an adjustment map for a low poly character would be best.
Do you guys know of any tutorials on creating adjustment maps to help with deformations? ![]() ![]() ![]() |

By adjustment map, are you referring to weight maps?
If you are, you simply apply a weight map to the object or mesh by either going to map> new weight map> or click the w at the bottom right > select >new in the drop down and select the area you want and assign an amount or percentage by selecting weight map mode in the modeler window, you can see your map applied then in Layout, you assign the weight map(s) to the bones and you can tweak the strength of the bones (how much of an area do they affect) to work in the bone properties panel. Google is your friend. http://forums.newtek.com/forum.php Simply Lightwave has an excellent tutorial in the Caveman tutorial that goes through the whole process of rigging and animating including weight mapping. I haven't done this tute myself but it looks like it might help. Johny Gorden has a two set book (Cartoon character creation) about creating cartoon characters and animating them that is excellent Dan Ablan has a complete course for Lightwave in whatever version you might be using - 3D Garage.com Hope that helps you ![]()
