Default Oakleys. My first render. C & C please.

Hi,

This is my first render and it is an attempt at photorealism. I really have no idea what I am doing as far as rendering goes. I have wanted to learn modeling first and then when I felt comfortable, attempt texturing and rendering and then rigging and animating.

Well, I am starting to feel fairly confident in my modeling so, I tried to render. I really do not understand all that is associated with rendering and I just fumbled around with all of the controls trying to teach myself. This is my result.

Let me know what you think.

I also need to put the little Oakly test on the upper portion of the nose. How should I accomplish this? If people are going to mention alphas, could you break it down, because I do not understand these.

Thanks!

Hey - looks good. I've found it difficult to find crits for this but I would say that the wood texture looks a bit big compared to the sunglasses. The knots in the wood themselves make the sunglasses look really tiny but this is really only a minor quibble. You should be happy with this render.

For fumbling around it looks pretty good, if you havent already check out oakleys website...http://www.oakley.com/home/..They have a killer style...I think the wood contradicts oakleys clean lines. They like to have that futuristic clean look. try a render with something that reflects a bit in the floor and throw on reflection blurring for a more subtle effect, and this will really come together..good job
