i was watching a basic modeling tutorial and doing good till it told me to use the EXTENDER PLUS. When I click on it nothing happens, the tool never shows up. do i need to do somthing special?

Which version of Lightwave are you using?
If memory serves correctly, it may be that you've hit the button, extender plus has done its thing, but you may not have moved the points away from the initial points - the end result being that it appears that nothing has happened. I don't have Lightwave on this PC to try it right now, but it may well be that you need to move the points as well rather than just hitting the extender button. |

Fallenswordsman is right, extender plus creates the points and geometry, but in eactly the same position as those selected, you have to then use the move tool to see the effects properly. I'd be careful if you've clicked it multiple times thinking nothing has happened as you may now have alot of unnecessary points occupying the same space - you may want to do a merge to get rid of these and delete any additional geometry that may have been created too...
