Angry problem runing tut's

I downloaded a couple of David Mitchel's tut's about interior.
Tried to run the part 1 avi but this caused my Windows XP on a PX with two Xeon processors to crash. Tried the part 2 avi and then Windows crashed immediately.
I have downloaded the newest DixX (8.0) player, but no way.
How come? I paid 6 points so far but got nothing useful in return!
Tried to run the avi's using FCP on my MacPro, no way. No codec available, nothing to download either. Also the newest QT on my Mac does'nt recognize the files.
Who will help solve this?

not sure why you are having a problem, I believe most of these Tutes are AVI files and I've never had a problem, I use Windows also both XP and Win7 with no problem.

There are the usual things to try, like running a virus scan, try updating your QT, although I think the latest versions are more problematic (buggy) than earlier versions.

Last but not least, try to download the files again, they could have gotten corrupted in the download process.

Thanks for your reaction.
Redownloading has no use: I tried several parts and all of them cause Windows to crash.
Virusscan? I think not: on all my computers (PC, Mac) and using several programs (Premiere, FCP, QT, Windows Media Player, Vegas) say: wrong or not recognized compressor. Try downloading an upgrade, etc. But there's no upgrade to find: I use all the newest programs.
So I'm desperate: don't know what to do anymore. What unusual compressor is used? Is it because of I live in Europe and thus having different standards from the USA? Is it possible to get the good compressor? Which one is that?

Have you tried to download some of the free tutorials?

If all else fails, use the 'contact us' button at the bottom of the page, they have been pretty good about taking care of problems.
