Talking My first car

i always thought of carmodeling to be imposible, but i am gona give it a go. i dont have any tutorials on this one so i am prudly gona trye to make this on my own. *wohoo*

This is the referens images and the first splines, any sujestion?

Looks good so far. Only suggestions I'd make is to take it slowly and try and concentrate on getting one section correct at a time.

If you get really stuck, download Philips McLaren tutorials if you havent already and use them for reference.

well, i would, but i am a unemplyed X student. hehe... so i dont have any money yet. but i am gona buy my self some points when i get a job in the future.

how the crap do i pach the thing? hehe... no idea. i get a error message when i trye to pach them.

OK, things to watch out for when patching:

(1) Select your splines as opposite pairs (see the diagram below)


(2) Make sure that when selecting your splines, the points where they cross are shared points (i.e.: welded together).

This should help out with most of your patching woes.

Ive been wondering about this spline thing for some time...
Anyone know of any good tutorials that show the basic of modeling with splines?
Always though a spline was a point? I guess im wrong!

Yep. As I've already mentioned - Philips McLaren modelling tutorial will teach you everything you wanted to know about spline modelling. And a spline is a type of curve - not a point.

I looked at that tutorial earlier, cant afford to buy points at the moment... Me and my girlfriend are strugeling students with a child
Gonna buy stuff when I get a real job ( Or rather when my girlfriend gets a real job) Im done in about 6 years... Guess ill be able to upgrade to LW9 when im done with my studies.

Man - I know how that feels (having no cash - not having a child ). If you want to get to grips with splines without using video tutorials, then there's a very good (but incomplete) spline modelling tutorial over at:

Thx a lot Mark... Sorry for the slow reply, we had a burklary newyears eve (or rather newyears morning) So there has been quite a few things to tend to insurance etc. The tutorials looks just like the thing im looking for..

looks good so far voices, only crit I have is that its a very common car to model, but then again, its quite easy to start with cause of its round shape.. and I did it too.. keep it up!
