probably a globe that doubles as a clock....although at the moment someone seems to have stolen the vitally important bit
Good start so far...the black ring seems a bit bent at the lower end but otherwise no real complaints

Oh, yeah, that's a globe-clock alright! I don't know how else you'd possibly name that. Nice start.

Pardon my ignorance, but how do I make the render smooth? I did so many times but this time it doesn't work...

Under Surface Editor I have checked Smoothing.

select metaform when you subdivide or in layout select the object press p and in the geometry tab set the render subpatch level to 6 or higher

I want to draw with PhotoShop the map that goes bihind the pointers, but I'd like to do with the exactly dimentions of the white object.
How can I find the dimentions I need?

Your easiest option would be to maximize the view on the front of the face and then take a screen grab. You can then bring this into Photoshop to use as a background template and then map the resulting image back to your object using planar mapping (make sure to crop the screen grab to the exact area you need before saving it).
