Question Still lost in the wormhole

I still cannot figure out how to create the look of a wormhole opening up. I'm not looking for anything as spectacular as say ds9 or something like that. Just something that sorta looks like a hole opening up in normal space, like in the middle of a room or something. The closest i've came is this 'tutorial'...

http://www.flay.com/text/wormhole.htm

It doesn't actually give a step by step guide on how to do anything, its basically just an idea on how it might be done. Suffice to say, i've got no idea what its talking about. Can anyone help me with this? I'm really stuck.

Thanks

this isn't exactly what you're looking for, but it might help.
