Default LightWave Kicks butt!!!!!

My brother just recently obtained a copy of lighwave and installed it on my computer...and let me just say...LIGHTWAVE FREAKIN ROCKS!!!!! I totally enjoy digitally recreating things I see in the real world, and I hope to eventually one day pursue a career in it. Im 17 by the way... Though at times when I want to recreate something, I find it hard to get things going. Like, I have a hard time trying to see what would be the best way to do it would be. And at times, I just frankly dont know how. I have used the tutorial on this site to create the low polly head and am proud of the outcome. But I am having a real difficult time making the ears. I have tried numerous times but I can never find a way to do it that looks realistic. My friend has a book called Inside Lightwave 7 that I may borrow and study since I am very new to the program. I have found that the best way to learn is from experience with this program. I have a certain scene in mind that I want to create but I need much more experience before I start on such an arduous task. I mean...modeling is one story, I havent even fully grasped the concept of texturing and lighting. Let alone rendering movement into objects and such. I have a long way to go but with some help, I hope to further my intellect with this program and create some digital masterpieces of my own. By the way...awesome site yall guys got here, keep it up. adios mi amigos

hmm...i really dont have any finished works...i have a hard time finishing something before i want to move onto another project, which i should probably work on. But as for things that i have personally made i have made like a bar scene with a bottle and some glasses...nothing much, i was just messin around. But i hope that i can finish this head model and create a body for her. That is my main challenge now. Trying to create a 12 year old girl is tough...and takes some time which i really dont have. I would love to stay up night and day working on this project but as a 17 year old kid going to school...i really dont have that luxury at hand.

Hello Koji2528,

First welcome to the boards, good to hear your enjoying lightwave as much as the rest of us do .

Like me and many others no doubt you are time poor and as such a few things can help to ensure your time on the program can be more productive.

Always prepare, research and aquire as much resource material
as you feel is required. Think about what you would like the end result to be and do concept drawings. Get your hands on the inside lightwave 7 book from your friend, it is an extremely valuable learning tool. You've already joined a community so i wont have to mention that one.

Most of these things can be done away from the computer, being in school has advantages, as you would no doubt have a libary on campus and maybe even internet access, use time such as lunch to go through internet sites and write down the urls of sites that have what you need or what you want to learn, get an anatomy book from the libary and photocopy/scan images for use on your projects. I am writing this on my work lunch break so i have the most possible time working on projects.

But most importantly have fun, even if you had time to sit in front of your pc 24/7 you shouldn't.

Anyway i hope this helps somewhat.

Cya round the boards
