Default X-Wing Model

I'm working on building a spaceship loosely based on the design of an X-Wing. I want the shape a little different (which is why it won't look exactly right for now) and then once I'm done modeling it, I'll touch it up and change the shape how I want it and then, of course, texture it.

You've certainly got a good start there, but why are you modelling in SubD's? The Xwing is a hard edged spacecraft and would probably me much easier (and more effective) to be modelled with good use of bevels...

Looking pretty good - but I have to agree with Shawry about the whole SubD thing. Then again, its your model, you can do it whichever way suits you best. I just think you might get a better shape without the subDs.

Hmm....lol didn't think of that. I've been using Lightwave for about a year and I didn't really start to play with modeler (when I say play with I mean really get into detail with the tools and what not) until a few months after I got it. lol I guess you could say I'm not exactly the expert on deciding which method to use when modeling relatively complex objects. I've already kinda got a feel for what it will look like when I'm finished so I'll just leave it where it's at right now. But thanks alot for your suggestion, I'll keep that in mind.

I like the idea of Sub-Ding the model. The tool that will straighten out the edges will be Bandsaw plus, depending on the look you are looking for.

So far, that is an interesting type of X-wing.

Try this layout file: I hope it attaches.

Added the wings. As for now the model is extremely basic, I won't get into model and texture detailing until later, right now I'm just sort of laying out a basic design and working from there.
