Default Stencilling

I have a scene that requires me to stencil a logo to an animated ocean.
The scene is going to have the camera hover over the logo which will be imposed on to the ocean waves. I have the ocean, and the logo created, but when I try to stencil, drill, or template drill the logo to the ocean it cuts the polygons out of the ocean where the logo overlaps. The ocean and logo are both flat polygons. The ocean has been subdivided (x5) for animating puposes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm... am I right in thinking that you just want the logo to be shown as an image on the ocean (kinda the way that sports programs superimpose stats and play data on screen)?

If so, then I'd render out the logo as a 32bit TIFF file and simply add it as a texture layer onto the ocean - you might need to UV map it for it to stay in the correct proportions/position on the moving ocean.

Is this the kind of effect you're going for (yes I know it's only low res, but it's just to illustrate??)
