Default Swimin With The Fishes

The characters Im working on are for the pilot for a TV show that Ill later be marketing for cable. The concept is your typical fish story about Fish in school... high school to be specific. All of the basic stereotypes will be portrayed. Billy Bass is the guy that knows everybody but dosnt really fit into any group. Mikey Muskalunge is the New Kid, dosnt know anyone but wants to be apart of everything. Angie Anglefish is the Rich girl (Billy's hopeful love interest). Then there is the tough kids, The Guppies are G. Whitey Shark - the Suppranos style leader. Nails Hammerhead - the not so bright wise guy. Twitch eel - somewhat crazy, he was born without insulation (electrocutes himself frequently). The Paranha brothers Butch and Skank(I think... I dont have the script on hand) think of them as a pair of yes men with ADD. The Jocks are Killer whales that answer to Boy (both of them do). Then there are other chars that I have officilly named yet. the Gossip(pufferfish), Drama queen, (starfish), several ROTC fish (speckeled trout), ROTC sargent (Striper), Nerds (Bug-eyed Goldfish), assorted feader fish. There are also the teachers, the Principal and vice, janitor, and last but not least the school bus driver who is a wooden puppet/Elvis impersonator named Rodney.

Any questions, comments, suggestions? Thanks in advance.

The first pic is of one of the Paranha brothers.

the latest fish I made... Twitch Eel. Im still trying to figure out a good texture for the skin. This is getting close to what Im looking for.

Another problem Im having is designing the electric shock effect. I was thinking of using 2 point poly chains that will arch in single lines frome one point on the skin to another. The question is what would be the best way to animate this? (endomorphs, bones,a combo, or something else)

Interesting. Everything it seems is saltwater, but goldfish, angelfish and pirannahs are all tropical freshwater, spotted trout are coldwater but I guess is saltwater although they're called Steelheads then.

Forgot, the uninsulated eel cracks me up- great idea.

Looking okay. I'm not entirely sure about the procedural bump maps on the orca. I think he would look better smoother. The eel seems a bit short as well although I don't know if some eels come in that length or not. Some transparency on the edges of the tail might look pretty cool.

Yeh, I think the whale looks better bumpless - not that I've seen whales close up but from pictures I've seen the skin appears to be all smoooth - presumably that's to make them swim better.
