Default bounce

Ive been playing with the collition settings (in [8]) trying to make a ball bounce off a surface ('nother ball), now ive got it to bounce, but it sinks halfway into the collition object before it bounces, anyone got any tips? also, is there a way to make it fall by it's self and after the first bounce make it fall to one side or roll off the collition object? coz what i'm trying to do is make a few balls fall out of the sky and bounce off each other without having to keyframe them... any ideas are welcome

Bouncing balls are the simplist the learn from or at least I think so.
The balls need to be set to hard fx. Goto the property panel for the ball, select the dynamics tab. On the basics tab, set the gravity to a value like -8.9. On the collision tab change collision by to sphere.
Repeat these options for each ball.
Now you need something for the balls to bounce on. Goto the items tab>add>Dynamic Obj>Collision. For the properties, mode tab. Change type to plane, radius to 0, Bounce to 200%(change this later to vary the amount of bounce) and your all set.

A note: In your post you had two objects that were merging before bouncing, this is because the radius of the collision object was set to small, change this to the size of your object, then the two objects will bounce at the outter edge of the objects.
Hope this helps
