Question Pyre

Hi!

I finall decided to get my head out of the sand so you can get some target practice.
This may have something to do with the fact that I haven't slept very well all week and that I've been awake about 20 hours per day.. but you never know.

But let's not be so optimistic from the beginning, good things can still happen.
Made "by ear", inspired by the dragons from "Reign of Fire", especially the mouth.

So.. this is my virtual pet. My mum won't let me keep a real one. She says it will ruin the furniture.

I hope you like it. It's far from over and I have a lot of things on my mind right now (I'm a highschool senior so the teachers know it's their last chance to get us). :headbang:

I'm curious if you like the idea/concept/whatever and if I sould continue or do something more useful like building card castles in hurricane conditions.
So... comment and praise :attn:

P.S. This is my first organic (if you don't cound a flower) and one of the my first more "serious" models.

Ok, that's about it. I'm done. I'm done? Cool!

The little guy also has a body but I'm a bit stuck on the wings :headbang:

P.S. II I also kept the earlier heads to make a kind of "progress report" if anyone wants to see. :p

Now... All I have to do is add the images and I can go to bed. Sooo sleeeepyyyy.. just one more push of the button... just one more...

Doesn't anybody want to drown my noob behind in criticism?
:attn: Where's your 'american' spirit? :p

Was busy yesterday/work so i didn't drop by SLW but this Dragon looks like som awesome work!
Things that i see that need some work is
1)Nostrils
2)Top teeth
3)Lips are too far away from the gums

Other than that it looks better than anything organic that i have done

Looks excellent, apart from the crits already made though, I would think about having a more pronounced lower jaw hinge and possibly pull back the skin joining the upper and lower jaws too, but obviously, since it's a fantasy creature, it's entirely up to you - other than that, very nice indeed.

P.S. I don't drink American spirit, too harsh - I'll stick to my Scottish malts if you don't mind

Hi...again

Yeah, I know it's not nice of me to not say anything for so long, but believe me, I wasn't jusr sitting around doing nothing. Unfortunately, I wasn't modeling all that much either. I had a lot of head ackes with tests and homework and other school stuff.

So, Why am I posting now? Well... no, it's not because you missed me, now is it? It's because I've managed to get some more work done on the model and I'm curious if I'm heading in a somewhat right direction.

I tryed to fix the problem areas, maybe I'll revisit them in the near future, when I have some spare time on my hands.

For now, I won't detail it further, but I will try and texture it, cause it would be a shame to let him fly naked like that.
The only problem is it will take a while, since I haven't really textured an organic before, but I'm willing to try. Hopefully I will get somewhere. We'll just have to wait, won't we?

I hope you like it, but even if you don't, please say why and how I can change that.
There's always room for improvements, and even if perfection can't be reached, we can try.

SO, with nothing left to say... here are the body parts of Pyre, the dragon.

Head

Leg(s)

(And one before I added wings)

And the whole ( in one? )

P.S. And remember: "Any reply is a good reply"

Thanks.

Weeelll, it's not certain, but... Pyre may, eventually, make a roast boar in 3 seconds or less or it's your money back.

:headbang:
This is hard work...
I'm all out of ideas now so here's what I've done so far...
Redone some small parts of the head, body and wings so I could get a good poly flow.
UV mapped everything.... now that was a big pain in the rear... Figure out how to map everything, cut away, move points, lots of points....
Oh, by the way... If anybody is doing any organics that they want textured try to do them as low poly as you can (not in-game low-poly, that's too much, just low poly, without very detailed areas ), then UV map them, and then begin to detail the mesh... At least in my case that made my work a lot easier...
Anyway...

I began to make color maps for the head and after a couple of total meltdowns and stuff I'd rather not mention, I could really use some tips right about now, maybe even some ideas

P.S. Yeah, this is my first serious organic. I've done some others, but on a more childish scale (a flower, an earlier version of the dragon which ended up looking like a stretched out dog, a sphere :p )

nice to see this getting on. The last render looks ok, but its really plasticy. U need bump maps on the tounge and also on the face. it looks just like colour values the now. Look at pics of meat ect.. for the inside of the mouth. For reference to colour and how the colour changes as the skin rapps round muslces ect.. U might also want to work throu the free eye tutorial here at simply. its a human pupil in the tutorial but u could alter it into a sleeker lizard like pupil, the tuorial really shows u how to get that wet look that would look stunning on ur dragon.

Looking forward to updates
