Default What happened to the Rendering?

Hello,

I'm new to animation. I rendered a scene. It took over night.

When I woke up - my render window had closed and I only had the main interface.

I'm not sure how to save the work. I've read my manual, but I can't seem to sort it out.

Also, I know my rendering was going fine -- but where did it go?

What is the best way to save an entire project?

I'm not sure if I could find this forum spot again. I think I am set for an email response - My email is "Lemonyusa@cox.net.

If you can send the answer both to this forum and to my email at Lemonyusa@cox.net, that would be helpful until I figure all this out.

Thanks,
Joe

It saves it where you told it to save it. (you did tell it to save it somewhere didn't you ?...)

You need to go to the render tab, render globals, output. (I think, haven't got it in front of me) check the save animation box, give it a name and place to save it, tell it what codec to use and wether you want it saved as a video file or a still sequence.

If its a big animation with lots of frames then it's usually recommended to render it out as still frames,That way if something crashes halfway through you haven't lost the lot.

That should do it.

Also, if you are rendering the animation just to see if the movement looks ok and your camera angles are suitable then you should change the render settings from realistic to basic as this will knock out an untextured, unshaded version of your animation in a fraction of the time. There is nothing worse than waiting 3 or 4 days for a render to finish and then noticing that your characters feet are going through the floor or soemthing equally annoying!
