Im still trying to get past the third caveman texturing tutorial, its taken me like a week!!!! but now iv sort of finished creating really bad looking uv maps, and am ready to start texturing...... I merge all pollys, and check what it does, it seems to connect all the pollys in the uv map, even though merge uv's is unchecked when i press 'm'- can anyone tell me what im doing wrong :headbang:

Try unwelding all your polys before making the UV map then remerge everything after the Map is created.

I found out what it is doing, but its still strange..... check out the image, I select all the polly's of the ear, then cut and paste, then move it up- as you can see from image 2 it leaves the outer ring of points behind, and those seem to be the things causing the problems
I found that if I lasso select the ear it leaves points behind when I cut, but if I select a polly, and press the right bracket, and select the ear that way, and cut, it seems to work....... I dont know what is going on |

Very strange ... not sure if you might have identified a selection bug there... what version of LW are you using?
