The character modeling and animation series from Todd Grimes and Desktop Images is the best I’ve ever seen. It’s expensive, and a bit old (LW 7.5 I think), but worth every penny. Also the most professionally produced tute I’ve seen as well.
Todd is a master. Of course there are ten ways to model any one thing, especially characters, but I like his technique. The rigging section is AMAZING. I still use these rigging and deformation techniques and I don’t see a need to change. The lip synch and animation sections are fantastic as well. Todd teaches you the tried and true method of using x-sheets for timing key poses, inbetweens, acceleration/deceleration, and playing to the camera. He even touches on some classic animation techniques like anticipation, follow-through, squash & stretch, etc. The graph editor is covered very well too. I sound like a Desktop Images sales guy but I’m not. You owe it to yourself to check these out. http://desktopimages.com/CharSeries.shtml Here's a link to my finished tute.
