Default Lightwave 8

Does anybody happen to know the expected release date of Lightwave 8? I've looked all over thier site and found nothing! Also, will the educational price for 8 be close to that of 7.5?

'Tis currently rumoured that LW[8] is due for release sometime in March (after they get a chance to demo it at the Video Forum in London next week, and then actually finish the thing). So, only about one year since Newtek took my cash for the upgrade (can't you tell though - I'm not bitter about it )

Anyways, this page:

http://www.newtek.com/buynow/lw_products.html

Will give you the prices.

grumble, grumble, grumble... Watching those demo videos makes me drool, froth at the mouth, and beg my computer to display the Newtek webpage with Lightwave 8 purchase info (to no avail, unfortunately).

Nope. All you can do at the moment is purchase the DFX+ bundle with 7.5 with the free upgrade to 8 when its released. I'd expect that 8 will ship for around $100 more for the boxed edition, and probably without DFX+

If you're in the states, you might want to check out the Safe Harbor website to see what prices they're offering.

I think there are a few people who are a wee bit POed about the delay. I don't think any of us really thought it would take this long to get released, not least NewTek themselves. Oh well, I suppose I haven't really used 7.5 to its fullest extent so I can't really complain. Patience has never been a strong point of mine.

Unfortunately, I think the DFX+ deal is the same price as the educational deal, so I don't expect so

Fair enough... I can't complain, Newtek puts a HUGE discount on thier software for teachers anyway.

The DFX+ deal is a complete steal anyhow. $495 for the upgrade, and I believe Eyeon are offering a separate dongle for DFX+ for $90. So, if you've not registered your license for it, then you can simply sell the DFX+ package on eBay if you're not going to use it. You never know, you just might make back more than you spent
