Default PC keeps restarting

I wanted to ask here before i go to newtek support incase anyone here would know the answer

My PC keeps rebooting in the middle of MD controller calculating. Im using LW 8 but it happened a couple of times on LW 7.5. Some times it reboots other times it doesnt so I must be doing something wrong. Im adding clothing to a body and im using phils settings from his "lady in red" tutorial. The dress has been freezed but not the body (body is made up from alot of poly's as it is :E ).

Anyone know the reason for the reboots ?

Could be anything. As FSman says, it could be you GFX drivers, it could be a RAM problem, a MB or CPU heating problem, etc. etc.

Have you tried making a clean image of your system (ie: New HDD and reinstall the OS and LW and drivers) to see if it still suffers the same problem. Dows the same scene and mesh work fine on another machine?

could also be your os, if you use xp id change that first, also could be overheat, although you should get a bleep for that.

i dont honestly know the answer to that, 2000 pro is quite stable for Lightwave, but is known to be iffy with games.

it realy depends on what you want from the os, for the best result buy a small but fast hdd install win 2k pro install lightwave also, keep that as simple as possible with only your lw work on there.

this way you can have xp as your general os and 2k as your development os.

Well i have used 2000pro,,, and the thing i find is that you need to understand a lot of the permissions and the underworkings of it if you want to play games and stuff. My comments will be use XP pro and then optimise it for your programs... remove all the fancy menu styles and graphics,,, you should end up with a stable OS to work in.

Good Luck
